What is COIL?

Collaborative Online International Learning. Two classes in different countries work together online on a shared project. It can run for anything from a couple of weeks to a full term, depending on how your calendars line up. Your students get an international experience inside the course they’re already taking, without anyone needing to travel.

Will you share my details with anyone?

Not until you’ve both said yes. We check with each of you separately before anyone is introduced, and only then share what helps you decide — your name, institution, subject, teaching dates and project interests. We never sell your information or pass it on for marketing. Privacy policy

Am I committing to run a project?

No. Joining just lets us start looking for a partner for you. You can say no to any introduction, and the first call is a 30-minute conversation with no obligation. It only becomes a project if you both want it to.

Do I need my university’s approval?

Not to join. Before running a project, many faculty check in with their department or international office, and some institutions like to sign off on new partnerships. Once you’ve found your match, we’ll help you with what you need for that conversation.

What about my students’ information?

Cadre never collects information about your students. During a project, you and your partner choose the tools your classes use, following your own universities’ policies.

Will my course ideas be shared?

Only a short summary, only with a potential partner, and only once you’ve both agreed to be introduced. What you share beyond that, in the call and afterwards, is up to you.

Who’s behind Cadre?

Cadre was founded by Neil and Andreu and is currently run by Corkscrew Minds in the UK. A real person on our team reads every profile and makes every introduction — there’s no algorithm deciding for you.
